Developed an App that offers a seamless and user-friendly interface, allowing users to effortlessly select their desired food items from an extensive menu.
As a Software Development intern at the Frugal Innovation Hub at Santa Clara University last summer, I developed a mobile application to empower individuals navigating English as a second language. Being an immigrant from Taiwan in the United States, I was familiar and had experienced the fear when facing unwelcome stares from cashiers and other customers due to my inability to order food in English. The discomfort and embarrassment I felt in such situations motivated me to develop a mobile application aimed at empowering individuals in the similar situation.
My innovative solution not only provided real-time language translation but also incorporated simple and accurate images to convey essential information quickly. The user-friendly app allowed efficient searches for nearby restaurants, offering advice on placing special orders. Developed using Flutter, the app allowed users to select specific restaurants, choose meals with images and recipe descriptions, and generate corresponding ordering sentences. For those struggling with language comprehension, an audio service was integrated to assist in conveying preferences such as flavor and dietary requirements.
The following shows the showcasing poster we made for our moblie application.
